Street art: Back with a second edition, our photos

Street art is taking over a new place in the Paris region! For one weekend only, this Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26, 2024, several urban artists will take over two Parisian bars to reveal to the general public their frescoes created on site. We’ll tell you more about “L’Équipée 2”, this street art event to discover for free and not to be missed for this last weekend of May!

Every year, more and more frescoes created by talented urban artists cover the facades of buildings in the capital. We of course think of the 13th arrondissement, which has become a favorite place for many street artists, such as Seth, Shepard Fairey and Inti. Events are also regularly organized in Paris, each time revealing the creativity of these incredibly talented artists.

This spring, time for the new edition of “ #the_equipped », an artistic event with the self-taught artist of Portuguese origin at the helm, The Jo V Footprint, supported this time by volunteers Murielle, Anne, Nath and Franck. Known for his works representing the faces of children, women and men, known or anonymous, and often marked by a small red heart, The Jo V Footprint has already exhibited at Lavo//Matik. We also find several of his frescoes on the walls of Paris, such as at Spot 13.

After organizing the first edition of “ #the_equipped » last February, The Jo V Footprint therefore announces the return of this event of unusual, free and collective street artbaptized “Team 2“. To be discovered for one weekend only, these Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26, 2024from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the event unveils the frescoes of several street artists, emerging or well-known, in two bars in eastern Paris. So, for this new edition, “ #the_equipped » expands on “two different rooms with two different atmospheres“, it is announced.

As for the line-up, prepare to admire the total 27 works by 20 different artistsamong which The Jo V Footprint of course, but also Louyz, Andrew Wallas, the Poulpeuses, Remi Cierco, Diane, aubi__art, Raphaelle Emery or the young and talented 2li.

The line-up of “ #the_equipped »:

We had the chance to discover the place in preview and the different frescoes created for the occasion, to be admired in the basement of the first bar (on a raw wall), then on the upper floor of the second establishment (on a smooth wall). Another difference between the two places? In the second bar, located in Bas-Belleville, Édith Piaf – who was born in the neighborhood – is in the spotlight. We fell in love with the sublime fresco created in homage to La Môme, and created entirely with a brush by 2li. The Jo V Footprint, who also reveals a very beautiful work on site, also gave of his own with his 160 stencils referencing songs by Edith Piaf and visible both on the ceiling and on the steps of the bar. We also love the fresco of Louyz featuring a child and a parrot with the capital as a backdrop. The rest and the other beautiful signed frescoes Andrew Wallas Raphaelle Emery, Diane, the Poulpeuses, Remi Cierco or Kal Dea are therefore not to be missed in the east of Paris.

See you on May 25 and 26, 2024 to discover “Team 2“. The event is announced from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with several activities on the program such as an open wall, live painting, meetings with artists, a shopping area or even a surprising treasure hunt with gifts to boot!

So, where exactly should you go to discover this new street art event? Head to the bar Mr Culbuto (294 rue des Pyrénées, 75020 Paris) from 1 p.m. Then, once there, you can collect the treasure hunt questionnaire which will take you to the second bar, located about 15 to 20 minutes on foot from there. The concept of this treasure hunt? Take a photo in front of hidden works on a well-defined route. These works will be found using the questionnaire. And of course, access is free and open to everyone.
