Three days after the attack on a young woman found in her underwear, shorn and beaten near Chemin de Canteperdrix, between Nîmes and Caveirac, the investigation is progressing. The events were particularly shocking. The police are continuing their investigation. Here’s what we know at this point.
Monday evening, around 10:30 p.m., the victim, a young woman in her twenties, whose identity has not been revealed, got into a vehicle in Milhaud (Gard). According to the press release from the Nîmes prosecutor, Cécile Gensac, she had just found a friend who had come to pick her up by car. It was only once on board that she noticed the presence of another woman and a minor in the back of the vehicle. The vehicle then stopped in an isolated area of the scrubland, where the attack took place.
According to the prosecutor, the victim was hit several times with punches and kicks, before two strands of her hair were cut using clippers. Her attackers then abandoned her in her underwear, without a phone, in an isolated area. She was able to be rescued by a neighbor, alerted by her calls for help.
The young woman was transported overnight to a forensic institute for examinations. She shows no trace of sexual violence, but suffers physical injuries. His total incapacity for work (ITT) was assessed at five days. Currently out of danger, she remains in a state of shock.
Two people, a man and a woman, were arrested a few hours after the incident. A man and a woman, suspected of being the attackers, were taken into custody. They are questioned by investigators to determine their degree of involvement in the attack. According to the prosecution, the investigations into the charge of aggravated violence are continuing “in flagrante delicacy”, in order to better understand the circumstances of the crime.
The precise circumstances of the attack still remain unclear. Investigators seek to establish the relationship between the victim and her attackers, as well as the reasons which led to this violence. At this time, no additional information has been released regarding the motives of the suspects. Prosecutor Cécile Gensac simply clarified that “investigations are continuing to clarify how the events unfolded. »
