In Sourdeval, residents invited to “prepare the future” of the town

Since 2021, the municipality of Sourdeval (Manche) has been part of the Small Towns of Tomorrow approach, a government system. Its objective is to “strengthen the resources of towns with less than 20,000 inhabitants which exercise central functions”, thanks to state funding until the end of the mandate in 2026.

Concretely, the town hall recruited a consultancy firm at the end of 2023, which will support the municipality for 18 months, at a cost of €73,044, subsidized by the Department and the Banque des Territoires to the tune of 30 000 €. Two missions were entrusted to him: determine “a strategic vision for Sourdeval tomorrow” by creating a sustainable territory project, but also carrying out development studies for the Cité scolaire, the fairground square, the town of Vengeons and gentle paths.

Consultation with residents

The first step of this territorial project is the writing of a diagnosis. Undertaken in recent weeks, this work will be done with the opinion of the population, through several consultations. The first will be held on Thursday May 16, 2024. “We want to involve residents in this global approach and thus prepare for the future together,” presents the town hall in a press release.
