The Crown doubts that Jacob Hoggard’s relationship with the complainant was consensual

At Haileybury court, the Crown ended the cross-examination of Jacob Hoggard on Wednesday by trying to convince the jury that the sexual relationship that the singer had with the complainant was not consensual as he claims. The musician has pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault over his encounter with the woman after his former band’s concert in Kirkland Lake in 2016.

When asked by the prosecutor about his measurements, Jacob Hoggard admitted that he was stronger than the complainant, since he was 5’10” and she was 5’4”, and that he was heavier than her.

The Crown is examining the two consensual sexual encounters he says he had within 30 minutes of each other with the woman at the Comfort Inn motel on the night of June 25, 2016.

The Crown’s doubts

Jacob Hoggard assures that the complainant rode him well during their first lovemaking on the bed and that she found pleasure there.

However, he does not remember turning her onto her back or penetrating her in the doggy style position.

Jacob Hoggard admits that the complainant was the first woman who urinated on him during a sexual act and that he derived great pleasure from it despite his astonishment.

Alcohol consumption?

Earlier during cross-examination, Jacob Hoggard confirmed that he left the show with another member of the band to start a campfire near the motel in order to invite a few people afterwards to celebrate until dawn. Morning.

We were around twenty people, mostly concert guests and a majority of girls.he recalled, specifying that the group had come in a 15-seater van.

The singer admitted that his admirers used to come and ask him for his autograph after a concert.

He added that the complainant was among the guests and that she had a beer and that he wanted to talk to her because he found her pretty.

He explained that the guests had almost all left at dawn and that he had returned to the motel with his group and the complainant.

He does not remember how she was dressed despite the selfie shown to him by Prosecutor Keen.

Other defense witnesses

The accused’s lawyer, Megan Savard, also called two final witnesses after her client’s testimony.

The lighting designer who was hired to set up the concert stage, Jeremy Van Delft, confirms that he saw the singer with the complainant at the campfire before seeing them leave for the motel to have sex.

But Mr. Van Delft does not remember seeing the complainant in a state of intoxication when he saw her enter the singer’s room.

In his cross-examination, he explains that he also does not remember whether the band members gossiped about the fact that the singer had taken a guest to the motel.

The last witness, Eric Clarke, had the task that night of driving the van in question.

He confirms that Jacob Hoggard was not in the vehicle when he went to drive two young girls to the campfire with another assistant after the show.

They were not minors and they knew very well where they were being takenhe assures.

The complainant said last week that she believed the accused was with her in a vehicle crowded with teenage girls, but that she did not know where she was going with her cousin.

Mr Clarke remembers asking the women in the van which one of them was going to fuck Jacob that night.

He adds that he dropped the two women and cases of beer at the campfire and stayed there for about 20 minutes. He clarified that he had noticed that the other women present were older.

He admits, however, that he does not recognize the complainant in the photo shown to him by the defense.
