New controversy at Lequet in Liège: the boss beats up a homeless man who was “embarrassing” in front of his establishment

To say that Marc De Bruyn, the owner of the famous Lequet café in Liège, located on Quai de La Batte, does not attract unanimous sympathy is an understatement. The man who runs one of the most emblematic establishments in terms of Liège gastronomy is in fact also known for creating controversy… This Friday, May 3 at the end of the day, he once again distinguished himself in an unsavory manner.

It was in fact when opening his establishment, around 6 p.m., that the owner of Café Lequet slipped… Noting that several homeless people were in front of the window, he did not hesitate, with his employee, to beat up one of them. A homeless man who was visibly reluctant to leave.

According to the information sent to us, the manager of Café Lequet would not have appreciated that these homeless people were once again squatting on the sidewalk in front of his storefront… He would then have attacked a recalcitrant homeless person. The victim still suffered 10 days of incapacity.

Informed, the Liège police quickly intervened and deprived the violent man of his liberty. He was referred to the Liège public prosecutor’s office this Saturday morning. His case could be subject to an expedited citation.

As a reminder, this is not the first time that the man has been noticed by the courts. Already in 2020, he had created controversy by broadcasting Nazi songs in his establishment, not without giving the Hitler salute according to shocked customers. However, he was not convicted due to lack of evidence.

Shortly after, he was worried about a party organized in full confinement, during the crisis.
