Dakar, Oct 2 (APS) – Senegalese singer and musician Sahad Sarr was rewarded for his actions at the Kamyaak eco village in Tattaguine with the ”Afield fellowship 2024 prize”, announced on Wednesday, ”Stereo africa 432”, the pan-African contemporary music label based in Dakar.

”Entrepreneur Sahad Sarr was distinguished winner of the Afield fellowship 2024 prize for his actions carried out on the ground in the eco village of ”Kamyaak” in the commune of Tattaguine, region of Fatick (center) in Senegal, with young people and women, particularly in this rural area,” indicated ”Stereo africa 432” in a press release sent to the APS.

Founded in 2017 by the artist Sahad Sarr, the Kamyaak eco village offers several activities: ”eco tourism”, ”artisanal bakery”, ”ecodôme”, ”making of natural soaps made from Moringa and Neem”, ”construction of compost toilets”, ”dyeing and other craft activities”

Mr. Sarr, an environmental and cultural actor, received his award on September 27 in Brussels in the presence of the other winners, the document specifies.

”I am motivated by the development of self, of youth, the development of possibilities and alternative projects where everyone can participate and meet to take advantage of our common efforts for simple and important values ​​- our humanity”, said declared the artist, “very honored”, on his Facebook page.

He says he is part of a healthy youth who “firmly believes in development for all, with our values, our realities, our customs and our cultures which benefit the whole world”.

”It is through solidarity and work that we manage to build,” said Sahad Sarr, younger brother of the Senegalese academic and economist Felwine Sarr.

Kamyaak was proposed and defended at the Afield network level by the Senegalese journalist and cultural entrepreneur Aïcha Dème who believes that the projects she supports must be ”artistic with an impact on the community”.

In the past, she has carried out the projects of the photographer Ina Thiam and that of the actor and director Madiaw Ndiaye which are now part of the “Afield” network.
