“Unimaginable to buy your meat here”: in Paris, butcher shops in Château-Rouge disgust local residents

It is a macabre dance that is played out daily under the disillusioned gaze of local residents of the Château-Rouge district, in (18th century). All day long, entire rows of meat carcasses stored in trucks are removed from their shelves with their bare hands by employees of local butchers. Casually thrown on their backs, the corpses are then sometimes placed on the sidewalk or on wooden pallets to be cut up with butcher’s paper.

Striking images released in recent days on social networks show these pieces of meat piled up against the walls of unrefrigerated stalls or even left in full sun and watered by the water which runs from the awnings of the shops… Viewed thousands of times by Internet users, most of these videos and photos were captured by residents and members of the Vie Dejean residents’ association. “Some date from April but others are also much older because it’s a situation that has been going on for years,” specifies Assia (first name has been changed), a member of the association.
