Senegal: appointed Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko leaves Ziguinchor town hall
Now Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko left his post as mayor of Ziguinchor according to information reported by the local press this Saturday. It took him a while to do so, but he finally did. On social networks, he was already receiving criticism in this direction.
At the beginning of April, when he published the list of the new government, Sonko indicated that a period of one month was granted to ministers to “resign from all elective responsibilities, whether at the level of local authorities or in the National Assembly , in order to devote ourselves exclusively to this heavy governmental responsibility, being aware of the expectations and the issues.”
By resigning from their former positions, ministers will be able to better concentrate on their new missions in the service of the country. The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, was the first to set an example by resigning from the Pastef secretariat.
