In Banjul, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye expressed Senegal’s deep concern about the disastrous situation in Gaza. The Head of State strongly criticized the indifference of the international community, the inaction of the Security Council and the flagrant non-compliance with the most fundamental humanitarian standards.
“Senegal is particularly concerned by the catastrophic situation in Gaza, under the indifferent gaze of the international community, in the face of the inertia of the Security Council and the disregard for the most basic humanitarian rules”, during the closed-door meeting of the heads of state and government of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting at a Summit in Banjul.
As newly elected president of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye assured his peers of his country’s continued anchoring within the organization (OCI), in a spirit of Islamic solidarity and fraternity.
The Head of State renewed Senegal’s unwavering support for the “legitimate demands of our Palestinian brothers and sisters, for a viable and sovereign State, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions.”
