Galaxus continues its development in Germany. The Migros-owned online retailer has laid the foundation stone for a new logistics center in Neuenburg am Rhein. It will ultimately employ around 1,000 people.
Construction of the first of two planned warehouses is expected to be completed in summer 2025, Galaxus said in a statement on Wednesday. With a surface area of approximately 90,000 square meters, the site will rival in size the largest logistics center existing to date in Switzerland, in Wohlen, in Aargau.
“Neuenburg am Rhein is ideally located for us: from there we can deliver quickly to Switzerland, but also to Germany or France. Products sold by Galaxus usually arrive via ports in northern Europe,” explains Michael Stolle, director of operations of Digitec Galaxus, cited in the publication.
Recruitment of employees is expected to begin in the summer of 2025. Last month, the Migros Group approved the budget for Galaxus Germany for four more years.
