Headliner of the 2024 campaign of the Ruban Rose association, Camille Lacourt was a key support for her partner, the model Alice Detollenaere, when the latter was affected by breast cancer.

Like every year, Pink October, a global communications campaign intended to raise awareness among women about breast cancer screening and to raise funds for research, is in full swing. The event symbolized by the pink ribbon gives rise to numerous demonstrations across and the various associations are calling for mobilization.

This is particularly the case of Ruban Rose, which seeks to raise awareness of the importance of the role of loved ones in the fight against illness. And the association can count on strong support since Camille Lacourt is this year’s headliner of the campaign. And the five-time world champion speaks with knowledge since his partner, the model Alice Detollenaere, was herself affected by breast cancer in 2019.

And according to the former Miss Burgundy, the former swimmer was a strong support. “We had only moved into our apartment two days ago! We were still in the boxes. I said to myself: “It’s either make or break”. And I gave him the opportunity to leave if he wanted, she told Closer. My first consultation at the Institut Curie, in , I thought I would go with a very good friend but Camille wanted to be with me. »

“I then understood that he would really be by my side through this ordeal. And I admit that it reassured me to never see the fear in his eyes. He remained rational, was reassuring,” she continued, adding : “Loved ones do not save you from illness. But there are all the side effects: the psychological, practical side… If I wrote the book Healed by your loveit was also to thank Camille and my loved ones for their fantastic support. Their role was essential. »

The couple nonetheless went through difficult times, especially after his remission. “Relieved, Camille continued to move forward, but I couldn’t do it anymore,”
explained Alice Detollenaere, who
“necessarily” thought of death. “If I die, it will be in Camille’s arms. I will leave surrounded by love”, she said to herself.
