May 1 football tournament: rain spoiled the party of 820 children in Aveyron, the event canceled

The football tournament on May 1 was canceled due to heavy rain which fell early Wednesday morning.

Traditionally organized every year on May 1, since 1985, at the François-Niarfeix stadium and its annexed fields, this football tournament reserved for the U7, U9, U11 and U13 categories, which was to bring together 88 teams representing 22 clubs, or 820 kids on 13 playing areas, unfortunately could not take place.

With their eyes fixed on the sky, the organizers had long hoped to see the rain stop and a ray of sunshine to shine through, in vain. At 9 a.m., the leaders of Luc Primaube football club resigned themselves to canceling the competition. Co-president Myriam Alauzet then took the microphone to inform all participants: “Dear leaders, educators, players, parents, until this morning we had hope of offering you this tournament. Everything was planned so that this great football festival that we have been organizing for more than 30 years would be beautiful. Unfortunately the conditions The weather has deteriorated and forced us to cancel this tournament. Please believe that we are sorry. “

Disappointment for the many volunteers

It was a big disappointment for the 100 club volunteers who spared no effort to set up the heavy logistics (podium, refereeing, refreshment bar, catering, rewards, etc.) but also for all these young budding footballers and their parents and grandparents who had come to see the exploits of their son or grandson. All these future Mbappé, Dembélé, Vithina, Messi, Neymar… disappointed at not being able to experience an unforgettable day, left comforted by their educators and guides. The theme chosen for this vintage was the Euro. Each team had to represent a qualified team for this competition.
