“the current project no longer has anything to do with the initial project”

More than 300 people attended the public meeting at the hospital on Tuesday May 14, led by doctors, user representatives, including Le Manifeste and the CGT-SUD inter-union association. This meeting aimed to inform the population about the concerns and threats weighing on the public hospital service in South Aveyron.

Yesterday, we were told about a full-service, attractive hospital. Today, the savings options that are mentioned would impact many services.

The population discovered with amazement the opacity of this project and of the decision-making process which seems solely guided by budgetary and political choices.

The current project no longer has anything to do with the initial project developed by the medical community and is constantly changing, without information or consultation with professionals, including the doctors concerned.

  • The analysis laboratory could be absorbed by the Montpellier University Hospital
  • Pharmacy activity could be cut in half
  • The maternity ward would be transformed into a perinatal center
  • Psychiatry fears being attached to or absorbed by the CHS Sainte-Marie in Rodez
  • Subcontracted or outsourced cooking.

In cascade, obviously, all services could be impacted. Especially since the commitments on the renovations of current establishments are returned without date or budget. These are the guarantees of activities until opening and those promised by the Medical Project for the future which would disappear.

We met the Mayor who does not seem worried about the state of the project.

Other meetings are made with the Deputy and the Director of the Regional Hospitalization Agency in the coming month.
