Evening of tension at L’Hôpital (Moselle), this Friday evening. A man retreated in his apartment at 31, rue de Saint-Avold learned France Bleu, confirming information from our colleagues at Républicain Lorrain.
The man got locked in his apartment after stabbing behind the back of someone who came to bring him food. An explosion, probably caused by gas, was heard and caused a fire to start, quickly put out by firefighters, in the stairwell.
RAID intervention, the man restrained just before midnight is hospitalized
Significant firefighting and law enforcement resources were deployed this Friday evening. The building’s housing quarantine has been evacuated and a security perimeter has been set up. The gas supply to the building was also cut off as a precaution.
The elite police intervention unit, RAID, was sent to the scene. The man was subdued shortly before midnight and automatically hospitalized in a psychiatric ward.
Already convicted of violence
According to the mayor of the town Emmanuel Schuler, the man is already known for acts of violence. The madman, suffering from psychological disorders, was sentenced several times to prisonnotably after having slashed the face of a young man who had refused him a cigarette.
