It’s’opening season 2024 for this structure managed by the of Redon Agglomeration since 2016. Between permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions, the Maison Mégalithes et Landes will be celebrating during the passage of the flameJune 1st!

The inhabitants of Saint-Just certainly know this emblematic building which sits on the main square of the town. There Megaliths and Landes House also recommends push its doors before going to the megalithic site.

” Visitors will appreciate it better what they will see on this site classified as a sensitive natural area by first coming to discover our permanent exhibition,” assures Marion Le Foll, stay advisor and Maison Mégalithes et Landes representative. “This exhibition also explains the upheavals of this period. » A focus is also placed on the excavations carried out in Saint-Just, this well-known site since the 19th centurybut whose great of 1989 restarted the excavations. “Also, this exhibition is really ideal for walking around the site, otherwise, we risk not understanding that all these visible elements are only Leftovers of what was potentially here. We imagine, by diversity of monuments ! And we know that the site has been busy during a very long period ranging from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age. A site which then had great importance! »

Prehistory in comics

With this permanent exhibition, visitors will also be able to enjoyoccasional exhibitions (free), including the season premiere entitled “Pre[h]history!”had enjoyed a small success in 2018. It is visible until July 21. “We are therefore highlighting the work of two authors, Priscille Mahieuillustrator of the comic strip “Ticayou”, and Eric Le Brun, author of “Prehistoric art in comics”. »

For the latter, some of the panels and illustrations are also presented in the media library. “The idea is to make the link with this municipal structure which will then offer a selection of works on this period. »

Opening and stand on June 1st

The following exhibition will take the visitor to a completely different register, with Alter Ego, an association ofarcheology students from II. They offer to discover pottery in archeology , at all times, on several panels. “And show what we do with these pottery as archaeologists”, explains Marion Le Foll who recognizes that “we have a fairly broad theme for these temporary exhibitions”. Finally, new this year, the Maison Mégalithes et Landes is launching afternoon activities linked to the permanent exhibition. The dates will be given later.

“Moreover, we will be open free on June 15 and 16as well as the June 1st day of the coming of the Olympic flamein Saint-Just. The Tourist Office will have a stand on the festivities site. »
