Nearly twenty hours after the shooting, which occurred in the 13th arrondissement of the capital this Friday, May 3, the injured man is clinging to life this evening. Transferred to the Pompidou hospital (15th century), this man, whose identity could not be confirmed, was operated on in the afternoon. “For the moment we still do not know whether he has been able to be stabilized,” specifies a Source close to the case.
It was around 12:25 a.m., on the night of Thursday to Friday, not far from the François-Mitterrand library metro station in Paris (13th century) that he attacked a railway surveillance patrol, armed with a chopper. The scene takes place at 108, avenue de France. The four uniformed officials are in an unmarked car and are responsible for ensuring security around the RER C station and metro line 14. The crew is attacked by a man armed with a butcher’s sheet who tries to open their door. This man of African origin, thin, measuring around 1m70, dressed in a white sweatshirt and black stockings, is aggressive.
Three officers get out of their vehicle. The worrying character approaches them despite their warnings. Two of them took out their pistols and opened fire eight times. “During the attack, the man managed to injure one of the police officers in the shin by throwing his weapon in his direction. An act which only caused a simple hematoma,” specifies a Source close to the case.
The attacker is hit by four bullets and collapses on the sidewalk. An off-duty police officer who was eating at a nearby restaurant came to his aid, followed by a neighborhood patrol. A security perimeter is set up during the intervention. The injured person is bleeding profusely. He suffered from four wounds located on his left toe, left foot, lower back and between his left ear and lower neck. The firefighters and Samu quickly arrived on site and took charge of him. The man was still conscious when he was taken to hospital.
The Paris public prosecutor’s office specifies that an “investigation into attempted homicide of a person responsible for a public service mission has been opened”. She was entrusted to the third judicial police district. A witness explained to the police that he had seen this stranger chasing onlookers near the MK2 cinema. On site, forensic technicians discovered eight cases corresponding to the shootings at the scene.
Tests relating to alcohol and narcotics were carried out on the SNCF agents and all turned out to be negative. Their weapons were removed for the purposes of the investigations. The four officials were not taken into custody. They were interviewed and released.
For the record, two agents from the SNCF General Surveillance (Suge) opened fire on June 30, 2021 and killed a man who was threatening children with a knife. More than two years after the events that occurred in Ermont (Val-d’Oise), on March 26, they benefited from a dismissal of the case.
