A 23-year-old young man was taken into police custody for having sexually assaulted a caregiver from Bouaye, southwest of the metropolitan area.

Le Figaro Nantes

A tragedy narrowly avoided. A 23-year-old man was arrested by the gendarmerie on the morning of Sunday September 29, after trying to rape a caregiver in Bouaye, southwest of Nantes (-Atlantique). The victim – aged 35 – was attacked at his office by the perpetrator. But this doctor working at the community’s reception and permanent care center (Caps) did not give up.

Unknown to justice

Alerted by local residents, the police intervened when the young man had just dragged the caregiver by the hair, in the middle of the street, near the care establishment. The victim struggled fiercely during the attack and eventually escaped his attacker by taking refuge behind a fence. She filed a complaint. The mayor of Bouaye, Freddy Hervochon (PS), was moved by this incident and assured that he was preparing better security for the health center.

Unknown to the courts, the young man admitted the facts while in police custody. The individual, who allegedly consumed ketamine before his attack, could suffer from psychiatric problems, according to information confirmed to Figaro by the floor. The public prosecutor requested that the suspect be placed in pre-trial detention. Referred to the Nantes court, he was indicted on Tuesday as part of a judicial investigation opened for attempted rape by a person under the influence of narcotics.
