CASA is back with the 5th edition of the Nocturne des Papes this Saturday, May 4. A sporting and cultural event which has established itself as a reference in terms of nighttime urban trail running in Avignon. But the people of Avignon were disappointed to learn that the race was already sold out, with 1,600 registrations in a few days.

“We reached the maximum number of registrations one month before the date. In just one evening, we recorded 400 registrations! Which demonstrates the success of our initiative”indicates Zinèbe Haddaoui, sports assistant for the city of Avignon.

La Nocturne des Papes, which offers an experience where participants explore historical sites while running, offers two courses to meet everyone’s needs. The first is 6 kilometers, while the second is 9 kilometers.

“On the 9 kilometer course, participants will visit thirteen sites. On the 6 kilometer side, they will only be able to visit nine”specifies Vincent Beau, president of CASA.

New revelations

What makes this event even more special is the touch of fantasy and creativity brought by the participants. The race becomes much more than a simple sporting event, because it is strongly recommended to come in disguise to give the race its fun aspect. The best disguise, male and female, will be rewarded before the start of the race.

Thanks to the support of the City, participants will have access to buildings, squares and secret passages specially opened for the occasion. The main new features for this edition are the abolition of the obligation to provide a medical certificate and the proposal of two routes passing through the Palais des Papes.

Runners will have the opportunity to explore not only the classic historic sites, but also six new must-see destinations in the city. Among these are the Saint-Joseph high school, the Calvet museum, the municipal archives, the Vouland museum, the Petit Palais vineyards and the Jean-Vilar house.
