In a video which is going around the web, a lady named Fatoumata Zahra Ndiaye, responsible for the Pastef party in Thiès, demands the dismissal of Mamadou Diene, recently appointed superintendent of the Fahu high school, because the latter is a member of the Alliance for the Republic (APR).

After this lady’s exit, Mamadou Diène was sent back to Cem Massamba Gueye where he came from. According to information, he is responsible for two movements of teachers who accompanied the President of the Republic. And upon seeing that a steward position was vacant, he applied as a civil servant with more than 24 years of service in this field. It was on August 27 that his service order was signed.

We are informed that the Ministry of National Education granted him this position with complete impartiality. However, after a few weeks, videos and demonstrations of discontent, particularly from members of the Pastef party, circulated.

Mr. Diène received a notification of cancellation of his assignment, signed on September 12.

Teachers’ union organizations call on union organizations, in particular the GSL, as well as civil society, to mobilize to prevent such situations from recurring in the future.
