Washington announces new military aid to Ukraine of $425 million

This new package includes air defense equipment, artillery ammunition, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons.

The United States announced new military aid to Ukraine amounting to $425 million on Friday, at a time when Washington accuses North Korea of sending soldiers to Russia to fight kyiv's troops. This new envelope, announced a few days before the American presidential election, includes anti-aircraft defense equipment, artillery ammunition, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons, detailed the American Department of Defense in a press release.

These weapons will be taken directly from the existing stocks of the American army. Washington “will continue the work (…) to respond to Ukraine's urgent demands on the battlefield to defend itself against Russian aggression”notes the Pentagon press release. The United States revealed Thursday that up to 8,000 North Korean troops are preparing to fight in Ukraine. Citing American intelligence services, the head of diplomacy Blinken indicated that of the 10,000 North Korean soldiers who, according to Washington, entered Russia, up to 8,000 “were deployed in the Kursk region”in Russia, on the border with Ukraine.

“We have not yet seen these troops deploy into combat against Ukrainian forces, but we expect this to happen in the coming days”added Antony Blinken. North Korea has recently strengthened its military ties with Moscow, with the Russian president making a rare visit to Pyongyang in June, where he signed a mutual defense agreement with Kim Jong Un.

The United States is kyiv's primary military supporter, with more than $60 billion in military aid since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Tuesday, November 5, the Americans are called upon to decide between the polls the Democrat Kamala Harris and the Republican Donald Trump. The former president regularly expressed his doubts about continued strong American support for kyiv.
