The amazement in Saint-Péray in Ardèche, after the shooting that broke out in front of the Seven nightclub during Halloween night. Three young people were injured by bullets. The vital prognosis of a 22-year-old Romanian, hit in the head, is in jeopardy.
Shots were fired by one or more individuals towards a group at the entrance to the nightclub. Rarely violent events in a usually rather calm city.
Residents destabilized in the face of such violence
Sitting on their motorbike, Place de la Marie, Hugo and Joris, two Ardéchois aged 16 and 17, talk about the shooting. “I had friends who were there, they called me after what had just happened. It's shocking. We're not used to that here, it's a small town.” says Hugo.
A little further Pierre confides, he no longer goes to discotheques : “as soon as there's a fight, as soon as there's alcohol or drugs, people pull out guns, it becomes nonsense.”
This violence, in a town of just over 7,500 inhabitants astounds Jacques Dubay, the mayor of Saint-Peray: “This is a tragic event that is not common for cities like ours. This use of firearms, these shootings at people, is quite new here. This is indicative of an increase in violence that we are feeling but I want, above all, to have a thought for all the people who are in distress following this tragedy.“.

If there has been no arrest at this stage, Jacques Dubay hopes that the investigation will allow the perpetrator(s) to be identified quickly: ” if only to show that such actions cannot go unpunished.
