Richard Dumas

meeting

We recognize his style in the very framed portraits, the unsmiling faces, the very contrasting black and white. Don’t talk to Richard Dumas about the studio, who never learned the art of seizing the right moment. His shortest photo session? “With Kevin Costner at the Film Festival. I had chosen the place, the right light, I had just found the right framing, and there in my photo, I see a hand tapping the shoulder. It was his press officer who came to pick him up. She told me, I’ll bring him back to you in 5 minutes but he never came back. When “Libé” told me that it wasn’t going to be easy to choose a shot, I told them that I only had image,” he says.

One of his most beautiful photos? “With Bashung. He was leaving the hospital where he had just started chemo. I had a friend come who did stone massages. I didn’t take any photos for three hours. We went to eat sausages in a bistro, and then we started in the afternoon. We ended up in the de Boulogne for his album “L’Imprudence”. »

This Friday, at 7 p.m., at La Sirène (https://la-sirene.fr/exposition-richard-dumas), the man who is also a guitarist will continue to tell anecdotes during a public meeting.
