Around 180 people gathered in front of the Métropole de to denounce the community’s urban planning policy.

This Monday, September 30 at 12:30 p.m., residents, traders and representatives of various groups expressed their dissatisfaction with what they describe as “contempt” from local authorities. Among the participants were elected officials such as Jérôme Moroge, mayor Pierre de d’ Pierre Bénite. To show their anger, the demonstrators were equipped with fog horns, smoke bombs and “fake big ears” indicating that they do not feel listened to.

As the President of the Metropolis, Bruno Bernard, was not prepared to receive the demonstrators on this day of the Metropolitan Council, they refused to be received by four vice-presidents. Indeed, Fabien Bagnon, Emeline Baume, Laurence Boffet and Béatrice Vessiller were ready to discuss with some representatives of the movement.

A spokesperson for the collective explains: “Bruno Bernard described the movement as a caricature, it is time for him to face his words.”

The ultimately canceled meeting gave way to slogans such as “Kohlhaas, Bagnon resignation!”. Christophe Cédat, owner of Café 203 adds: “We want to be heard. We want exchange and not five minutes on a square to which we are forbidden access.”

Gilles Gascon, mayor of Saint-Priest, supported the mobilization when leaving the metropolitan council, affirming: “Your meeting today helps to make your ideas heard.”

Emeline Baume, vice-president of the Metropolis, reacted to the mobilization by declaring: “We are listening to them, there were four vice-presidents of us who offered to meet them.”
