Maine-et-. Pink October 2024: mobilization to raise awareness of breast cancer screening
Maine-et-Loire. Pink October 2024: mobilization to raise awareness of breast cancer screening

If Maine-et- records the highest participation rate in the organized breast cancer screening campaign in 2021-2022 with a rate of more than 58%, this means that there are still 42% of women concerned convince. Why participate in screening? Because it is the most common female cancer. It affects more than 61,000 women each year in . 1 in 8 women will face it during their lifetime. Because it is the leading cause of cancer mortality in women. Breast cancer is responsible for 12,100 deaths per year in France. But above all… because it is one of the cancers that we know best how to cure today! When detected early, it can be treated in 9 out of 10 cases.

A cause that mobilizes

Faced with the large number of initiatives on the occasion of Pink October, La Ligue contre le Cancer 49 is publishing a program in paper version or, more complete, in digital version on www.octoberrose49.com. The association invites everyone to participate in one or more proposed actions: prevention workshop, theater evening, walks or runs, yoga session, exhibition, etc. You will also find events organized by other associations dedicated to the cause. Pink October is being rolled out throughout Maine-et-Loire. The League Against Cancer 49 and the many partners are committed by organizing: Rose walks, prevention workshops and even events. Prevention workshops led by professionals from the League Against Cancer 49 take place throughout the month of October. The objective is to discuss with those who wish to do so about everyday actions on which we can act to protect ourselves from cancer. A silicone self-monitoring bust also allows everyone to practice finding an anomaly or a tumor and to see that it is not easy and that follow-up by a health professional is essential. A workshop will take place on October 17 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Beaufort-en-Vallée CH. Many initiatives are grouped together on www.octoberrose49.com, among them: a football tournament on October 5 in Ambillou-Château; a theatrical improvisation match on October 19 in Doué-en-Anjou; an exhibition on October 23 in Gennes-Val-de-Loire; a well-being afternoon, on October 26 in Baugé-en-Anjou… The objective of Pink October is to encourage early detection and support patients throughout their journey. Every gesture counts and contributes to the fight against breast cancer.
