“Giving a second life to materials, accessories, costumes and sets from live performance”. This is the objective of the collaboration between La Belle Déchette and the Rennes Opera who are organizing this Saturday, May 4 at the Opera’s construction workshops an exceptional sale of objects from live performance.

There you can find “crockery, turntables, vinyl records, wedding dresses, and many other materials and objects. Last year, more than 878 kg of materials were sold,” explains Maëlle Blain of La Belle Déchette. Some of these objects were set aside during the year by the resource center in anticipation of this special sale, or came from the Rennes Opera which donated them for this event. “The Rennes Opera is the first cultural actor to trust us,” greets Maëlle Blain.

Open to all, this sale is the perfect opportunity “for companies, amateurs and professionals in the cultural sector to find treasures and materials at “low” prices”, underline the two institutions. And be surprised by the diversity and the originality of the objects sold.

Ecological and supportive reuse

Through this sale, the resource center wishes to “limit the creation and burying of waste, but also the use of new resources to create new costumes and sets”. This initiative is part of “the commitments in favor of the ecological transition made by the Rennes Opera to limit its environmental footprint”, specifies Lilian Madelon of the Rennes Opera. An ecological project therefore, but also social. “Sales prices are ideally two-thirds lower than what can be found in the sector,” says Maëlle Blain.

An accessibility which allows a wide diversity of actors to find what they are looking for according to Maëlle Blain. “This sale brings together students from arts or dance schools, artist collectives, companies, amateurs, and individuals too! “. A partnership that unites and succeeds: launched in 2017, this exceptional sale is in its seventh edition.
