The stormy phenomenon, which will affect the north-eastern quarter of the country, should occur between the end of the day and the beginning of the evening.

A phenomenon which should begin at the end of the day. In its first bulletin of Wednesday May 1, Météo-France indicated that it had placed 14 departments on orange alert for stormy phenomena today.

In detail, the departments concerned by this vigilance are: Paris, Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne, Yvelines, Val-d’Oise, Essonne, Seine-et-Marne, Somme, Oise, Aisne, Marne, Aube and Yonne.

According to the bulletin from the meteorological institute which accompanies this vigilance, these violent storms are “likely to cause significant damage locally.” It is at the end of the afternoon or even the beginning of the evening that these, sometimes violent and accompanied by hail and significant wind gusts of up to 80 km/h, should occur.

For the day of Thursday, May 2, 4 departments should still be placed on orange alert for the same stormy phenomena: Somme, Oise, Aisne and Marne.

Rainy day

In general, May 1st should be rainy over a large part of the country. The rains will extend from Provence to Languedoc, to the Massif Central and Center, then quickly to Normandy, indicates Météo-France.

On the border Alps, a return from the east will bring sustained and regular precipitation with a rain-snow limit around 2,200 m. It will rain more lightly on the Atlantic coast, except the Breton tip which will find variable skies. Elsewhere the sky will be very cloudy in general, brighter in the North-East.

In the afternoon, in the west the rains will slowly sink into the interior of the country, in the Pays de la Loire, Poitou and the South-West. To the west of the Pyrenees the rain-snow limit will drop from 1,600 to 1,100 m, to the east from 1,900 to 1,500 m.

In terms of temperatures, the minimums will range from 8 to 12 degrees, locally 6 to 7 in Brittany, 11 to 14 near the Mediterranean. The maximums will range from 13 to 16 degrees in the southwest half of the country, from 14 to 20 degrees from the southeast to the north, from 20 to 25 in the northeast with peaks at 26 or 27 in Alsace.
