Lionel Massol and Pauline Seigland are very attached to the Quiberon peninsula and it is there that they have set up their base camp, the production company Films du Grand Huit. While two of their films have just been selected at Cannes, meeting with Pauline Seigland.

Two of your films are at Cannes, is it a good year for you?

Yes we are so happy! “Les Fantômes” by Jonathan Millet will be presented at the opening of Critics’ Week and will be released on July 3 and “Mi Bestia” by Camila Beltran is selected at Acid. Jonathan and Camila are the first two directors whose shorts we produced eight years ago when our company Grand Eight was created: so it’s very moving to see that all this energy is bearing fruit. It gives meaning to our daily work.

How many of you are at Big Eight?

A small team of five people. Three in Paris and two in Brittany. We are still small, we have made eight years of short films. Then “Disco Boy”, Silver Bear in Berlin was our first full length released last year. And those are the next two. We are also at the end of post-production on two feature films: the third film by Baya Kasmi Mikado with Felix Moati and Ramzy Bedia which will be released in the fall. We have also just finished filming Marie Rémond’s first film: The goats also faint, a dramatic comedy with José Garcia and Gustave Kervern. We don’t get bored, it’s joyful, we feel lucky. We can’t wait to come and present all these films in Quiberon!

Do you still find time to return to the peninsula?

Yes, we come here regularly with our authors, they come to write or work on their editing far from the stress of Paris. It is thanks to this protected place that this creative and constructive round can take place.
