Carmine, the new restaurant with a view of the Maine opens its doors

The old tavern located in front of the entrance to the CHU has been transformed to become a bistronomic restaurant with a breathtaking view of the Maine.

This Tuesday, April 30, a brand new restaurant called Carmine opens on rue Larrey in Angers. His particuliarity ? Offering a panoramic view of Maine. Property of the City, the place, occupied by a tavern for several years, was completely restructured and enlarged, before being entrusted for a period of eight years to Charles-Henri de Froissard, an Angevin at the head of several establishments in Paris. He runs the “Farmers” coffee shop in the IXethe “Petit Farmer” ice cream parlor, in the Tuileries garden, and finally the “Roi René” opened a few months ago in thee.

With Carmine, it is therefore a return to his roots for Charles-Henri de Froissard, who moved to Paris at the age of 19. “ I wanted to come back to Angers which has become a very beautiful, pleasant and dynamic city. », says the thirty-year-old.

After the work carried out by the City for nearly 700,000 euros, several months were necessary for the interior design, decoration and finishes, financed by the contractor.

A terrace overlooking the Maine

It is now time to receive the first customers around the large stove which sits in the middle of the main room, surrounded by carmine red benches. Inside, the establishment will be able to accommodate between 70 and 75 seats, while the bar will offer around fifteen seats. The outdoor terrace, with a view of the Maine, can accommodate between 60 and 70 guests.

This new bistronomic restaurant, where it will also be possible to simply have a drink or a snack, aims to be “ accessible to everyone “. “ Prices will be reasonable with a starter, main course and dessert menu at 24 euros for lunch. In the evening, it will be à la carte, but there will be something for all budgets », reassures Charles-Henri de Froissard. On Sunday, there is a unique menu for 30 euros.

On the program: local, seasonal products from sustainable agriculture, between 150 to 180 references of natural, biodynamic wines, as well as Angevin beers, but also homemade non-alcoholic drinks. To run this new establishment, ten people were recruited, including five in the kitchen. The chef, Maxime Elan, left the Parisian restaurant Korus to offer a “ contemporary cuisine with inspirations from world cuisine “.

Carmine will be open Tuesday to Thursday from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m., then from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
