Everyone has already heard of the famous mullet cut. But did you know that it has a growing community? So much so that a Mullet Cut Festival is now organized every year. It arrived in Europe in 2019, during a first edition which took place in Belgium. Since then, it has been organized every year (except one due to Covid), alternately in Belgium or France.
During this event, which has become a real unmissable event for the mule community, the European champions are designated in several categories. For its third Belgian edition, the Mule Cup Festival will be held on the site of the head office of theAbbey of the Rocksin Audregnies, in Hainaut.

”The objective of this event is to offer a pleasant setting to fans of the mullet cut who would like to get together and exchange in a friendly atmosphere”explains the organizers in a press release. “This festival is here to bring people together and not to divide. With this in mind, all hair styles are welcome, without distinction.”
So you can, of course, go to the festival, even if you don’t have a mullet cut. So, no need to make an appointment with the hairdresser before May 12. On the other hand, if you want to stand as a candidate for the elections for the most beautiful mullets… you obviously have to have one.
What to expect at the Mule Cut Festival?
The organizers describe it as an event at the crossroads between a tavern party, a beer festival, a music festival and a European championship. They specify: “Despite a certain self-deprecation, it is not a question of making fun of the mullet cut and even less of denigrating it. The festivities will take place with respect for all.”
You will be able to find numerous entertainment stands there, but also a stand with hairdressers and hairdressers. Whether you already have a mullet, a failed mullet or want to take the plunge and join this hair community, you’ll be in the right place!
It’s on the scene “Big mule stage”, which will be elected most beautiful mullets in Europe. But that’s not all: there will also be music. “The end of the end of the music of the Walloon Family Republic, all masterfully orchestrated by Christelle and Valentin, the master mistresses of the day.”
Another stage, “Crasse stage”, will also host several groups, which you can listen to while having a drink.
The award ceremony of a literary competition new ones will also take place during the festival. Moreover, the ten winning short stories are collected in a collection, which will be available on site.
The European Mule Cup Championship
The most important event of the festival is undoubtedly the competition for the most beautiful mullet. A jury of choice will be responsible for electing which are the most beautiful mules, in different categories. At the end, the title of European champion will be awarded.
But another important event will also take place during the festival. Indeed, the event took on another challenge: the world record for longest ch’mulet. “As soon as the list of the most beautiful mules in Europe is known, the jury gives way to the bailiffs to validate the longest mule in the world.” Are you wondering what it is? “See you at the main stage on Saturday around 9 p.m.!”
A Belgian becomes European mullet champion
The Mule Cut Festival also presents two new features : the campsite or festival-goers will be able to arrive the day before and leave the next day, but also on Sunday which will be in tavern mode.
Mules and beers
If the event takes place at the Abbaye des Rocs, it’s not for nothing! “The festival likes to partner with breweries. This year, he chose to work with the heirs of the first micro-brewery in Belgium, the Abbaye des Rocs.” Nathalie, brewmaster, has also developed three beers for the occasion.
Ciders, wines and apple juice will also be offered. For a bite to eat, you will find a 100% Belgian food offer.
