The Women’s commission of the -Atlantique departmental cycling tourism committee is getting ready to prepare for the itinerant trip which will take them to to participate in “Together by bike” on June 2.

The weekend of February 3 and 4, 2024 was marked by the participation of seventeen cyclists aged 20 to 74, from nine cycling clubs in Loire-Atlantique, in a bikepacking. This initiative aimed to prepare for the big trip to the French capital.

A weekend of training and sharing

For these women who are passionate about cycling, it was an opportunity to share their cycling travel experiences and prepare themselves mentally and physically for the adventure to come. Moments of conviviality and solidarity which strengthened the bonds between the participants.

Skill acquisition

In addition to field training, a mechanical training course was organized in January. The objective was to master the basics of bicycle mechanics and to acquire a certain autonomy on the roads. An essential skill to face the challenges of traveling.

An ambitious project

The national project that awaits these courageous cyclotes is ambitious. In May-early June, there will be 47 women, accompanied by a tandem piloted by a visually impaired woman and three guides, starting from Carquefou to reach Paris in five stages.
