The latest offer submitted by the Canadian Institute of Quebec (ICQ) was ultimately rejected by the unionized employees of Quebec libraries.

This was the third comprehensive offer presented to members by the employer. The rejection therefore indicates that the strike is continuing.

The union, which recommended that members reject the offer, also indicated that they will be back on strike on Saturday.

In total, some 240 workers in the Quebec library network are affected by this conflict, demanding salary catch-up, adjustment of the entry rate, elimination of the salary gap with City employees. from Quebec.

A big disappointment

For its part, the ICQ says it is extremely disappointed with the rejection of this third global offer while the strike has lasted for eight weeks.

“The offer presented to unionized staff took into account the concerns expressed in particular regarding salaries and working conditions, while keeping in mind the need to ensure responsible management of the public funds entrusted to them,” commented the employer in a press release.
