The Cégep de Lanaudière, which was the victim of a cyberattack on May 3, is extending the suspension of all of its activities, at least until Friday, May 10, marking a full week of disruption linked to this incident.

The management of the school had first announced over the weekend that all face-to-face and distance learning courses would be canceled on May 6 and 7 “in order to avoid any problems related to access to the premises which are for most of them electronic.

In a new communication sent to students Tuesday evening of which TVA Nouvelles obtained a copy, the Cégep announces that it is extending its forced closure until at least Friday, inclusive.

Only activities and training courses planned outside establishments are maintained.

“The investigation and work are progressing, but unfortunately it is too early at this time to resume activities,” it says. “Rest assured that every effort is being made to ensure the smooth running of the end of the session.”

At the end of the session, no date has been confirmed for a return to class for the 7,000 students who attend its campuses.

“However, please note that the possibility of a return at the beginning of next week is currently on the table,” mentions the establishment in its communication, where it also specifies that the uniform French test of May 15 will be maintained.

Cégep de Lanaudière has campuses in L’Assomption, Joliette and Terrebonne in addition to a head office and a continuing education center in Repentigny.
