Bänz Oester & the Rainmakers – Quartet, Europe – South Africa

Bänz Oester

The Rainmakers embody a tradition rarely claimed today, particularly in the spiritual jazz of the 1960s and 1970s. Their music conveys a deep sense of belonging, brotherhood and sisterhood, far from the complex and elaborate structures often sought in jazz contemporary. Their collective game expresses a quest for freedom, revolt against oppression and a need for transcendence, supported by remarkable individual virtuosity. Comprised of European and South African musicians, the group transforms into a collective energy where equality and collaboration are paramount, reflecting an exciting cultural and musical fusion between north and south.

BEN AYLON, ALY NDIAYE ROSE & LES ROSETTES

Percussion virtuoso Ben Aylon made a name for himself in Senegal with his solo performance “One Man Tribe” on popular television shows. With the influence of Doudou Ndiaye Rose and Aly Ndiaye Rose, Ben developed an innovative hybrid percussion style, fusing the powerful sound of a tribe of drummers into a solo over a ten-piece sabar set. Aly Ndiaye Rose is recognized as one of the greatest master drummers of Sabar, helping to preserve the traditional Senegalese repertoire in collaboration with Les Rosettes, the first exclusively female group of percussionists in Senegal, created by Doudou Ndiaye Rose.
