Closed to modernize its electrical system, the famous swing bridge Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche) has reopened to traffic since this Friday April 26, 2024around 3:05 p.m.

Earlier than expected

And it is with a little in advance since the closure of the bridge was planned until this Friday, 5 p.m.

As soon as Denis and Greg, two employees of Ports de Normandie, began to remove the barriers and tapes upstream, around 2:50 p.m., several vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists entered and waited firmly in front of the barriers and red lights of the swing bridge.


Work to replace the general electrical system of the Cherbourg-en-Cotentin swing bridge began in January 2024 » in order to bring it up to standard and facilitate maintenance “, indicated, in a press release on April 15, 2024, Ports of manager of this infrastructure which allows boats to enter and leave the commercial basin twice a day.
