The aircraft which crashed this Friday morning in the Bages-Sigean pond, south of Narbonne, in Aude, is a helicopter belonging to the EID, the Interdepartmental Agreement for Mediterranean Mosquito Control. The pilot recovered by a fisherman is safe and sound.

A helicopter from the EID Méditerranée establishment crashed this Friday morning, near the Island of Planasse, in the Bages pond, near the town of Peyriac-de-Mer.

The accident caused no injuries. The sole pilot on board was unhurt and only suffered a few bruises.

This device type Bell 206 was carrying out a liaison flight when it fell into the water.

The causes of this accident are not yet known. The pilot, safe and sound, was taken care of by the security and rescue services after being picked up by a fisherman.

Furthermore, significant anti-pollution safety means are deployed on site to prevent any risk to the fauna and flora of the pond, but the tanks of the helicopter were empty of organic insecticide because the pilot was flying to go fill them, same for the fuel.
