Workers report a major gas leak, rue de Caumont, in Lisieux

This Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., a major gas leak was reported by workers on a medium pressure pipeline, rue de Caumont, in Lisieux (Calvados), not far from the hospital. The entire Lisieux barracks, firefighters and specialists from Caen, the police and GRDF were mobilized.

Workers who were working on rue de Caumont in Lisieux (Calvados), not far from the hospital, called the fire brigade from the barracks this Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. They reported a major gas leak on a medium pressure pipeline during their work. The smell was very strong.

The entire barracks mobilized

The Lexovian barracks have launched the gas procedure. The entire guard and on-call staff was mobilized, i.e. sixteen people. Reinforcements also came from Caen, including five specialists in technological risks.

There were seven fire brigade vehicles on site as well as various ancillary services, such as GRDF (Gas network distributor of France). Police also helped secure the perimeter.

The intervention lasted two hours. No damage was reported.
