European Athletics Championships soon in Belgium? Brussels is one of the three remaining candidates to host Euro 2030

Last spring, it was already announced that Brussels was bidding for Euro 2030, alongside five other cities. European Athletics has now shortlisted three cities and will hold a new selection round in April 2025. The host city will be announced in April 2026.

The Van Damme Memorial and the organizer Golazo wish to organize the European Championships in collaboration with Belgian Athletics and the City of Brussels.

The Belgian bid highlights the fact that Belgium will celebrate its bicentenary in 2030 and that the King Baudouin Stadium will celebrate its centenary. In 2030, it will also be 80 years since Belgium and Brussels hosted their first and only European Athletics Championships.

The candidacy must also pass the milestone of the next municipal elections on October 13 to know if the new municipal college of Brussels is still interested in organizing this Euro.

The 2024 edition was held in Rome last June. In 2026, Birmingham will host the event in England. Chorzow, in Poland, will organize the Euro in 2028.
