From February 17, 2025the Palais Ducal welcomes a conference cycle who explores the depths ofArt Brut. Five evenings which promise to shake up your vision of art.
An Artistic Revolution Still Living
Art Brut emerged in the 20th century as a radical challenge to established artistic conventions. Spontaneous creations, particularly those of people suffering from psychiatric disorders or practicing spiritualism, place gesture, material and pure emotion at the heart of creation. But here is the paradox: these works, once marginal, now take pride of place in our contemporary art museums. Was Art Brut absorbed by the establishment it challenged? These evenings will allow us to explore this fascinating evolution.
