De Niro against cyberterrorism
The series Zero Day is created by Eric Newman (Griselda, Narcos) et Noah Oppenheim (Jackie, The Labyrinth) and follows, over six episodes, “the repercussions of a cyberattack which has claimed thousands of victims and threatens to bring a country already on the brink of the precipice,” Newman told Netflix.
Pour Zero Daythe cinema giant that is De Niro (Taxi Driver, Heat, The Irishman) is not only a headliner but also takes on the role of executive producer, which marks the first time that he is attached to the casting and production of a series.
“De Niro really became our partner on this project – very involved, he read everything every step of the way, and it was an incredible honor and privilege”Newman added.
In the series, the actor plays opposite Angela Bassett (Black Panther, 9-1-1) in the guise of the current President of the United States, but also to Jesse Plemons (Civil War, Fargo), Lizzy Caplan (Lolita in spite of myself, Masters of Sex), Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, The White Lotus), Matthew Modine (Strangers Things, Oppenheimer) or Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, Gas color).

As Netflix points out, the series “poses the question that occupies everyone’s mind: how can we detect the truth in a world in crisis that seems to be torn apart by forces beyond our control? And in an age where subterfuge and conspiracy theories flourish, to what extent are these forces – are they the result of our own actions, or even the fruit of our own imagination?
What De Niro liked about George Mullen’s character is that he tells it like it is: “That’s his resolution. Don’t shy away from anything. Don’t play games. Be honest about what’s going on so the public knows what’s going on,” the actor said.
Mullen is leading the investigation to find the terrorists responsible for the cyberattack, but will he be able to catch them before they cause even more chaos? Visit Netflix on February 20, 2025 to find out.
