The nominations of the 45e edition of the anti-Oscars also distinguish Borderlands et Madame Web. A Frenchman could win a prize: actor Tahar Rahim.
It’s a trophy that Hollywood actors and actresses could do without. The Razzie Awards revealed on Tuesday January 21 the list of films considered the worst of the year by the jurors. Among them, the film by Todd Phillips Joker – Folie à deux , who has just been nominated in no less than seven categories of this prize designed as the anti-Oscars.
This musical comedy, a commercial failure in fall 2024, is notably nominated in the category of worst film, but also in that of worst sequel. Actor Joaquin Phoenix who plays the role of the Joker and his partner Lady Gaga were nominated in the categories of worst actor and worst actress. Descended by critics, the film only grossed $200 million, or about a fifth of the first part, and the revenue did not cover filming and marketing costs.
Multi-awarded filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola is nominated for the title of worst director for Megalopolis. Just like director S. J. Clarkson for Madame Webwithout forgetting Eli Roth for the feature film Borderlands . The failure of the film Madame Web also affects a French actor, since Tahar Rahim is nominated in the worst supporting actor category for his performance in the costume of the villain Ezekiel Sims.
