While his first solo show, Quackgrasswill not be eligible for the Olivier Awards until next year, Mégan Brouillard still managed to obtain four nominations for the ceremony which will be held in March. This is a great harvest that pleases the comedian… but not as much as the Canadian’s victories!

At the end of the phone, when we ask Mégan Brouillard if she is happier with her Olivier nominations or the recent victories of the Montreal Canadiens, the answer is not long in coming.

“The Canadian, of course! When Jake Evans is doing well, I’m happy. He got his first star yesterday [mardi soir, contre le Lightning]. To be honest, I had more of a reaction!”

The four nominations that Mégan Brouillard received at the Olivier Awards are for Discovery of the Year, Capsule or Web Humorous Sketch of the Year (Mission menstruations), Text of the year: Humorous web capsule or sketch (Mission menstruations) and Comedy Podcast with Script of the Year (Fast forward).

“There are a lot of nominations in there that are group,” she notes. I find it fun because we often talk about this job as a solitary job. I see the people I worked with again and I feel lucky.”

Without Mona in the paws

Mégan Brouillard talks in particular about the team of Mammothwith whom she made the capsule Mission menstruations. “I almost didn’t do this capsule. I was wondering what I had to say about this without it being weird. They trusted me, I accepted the challenge and I had so much fun doing it.”

“The podcast [Avance rapide]it’s really the project of Catherine Cliche, with whom I went to school [nationale de l’humour]she continues. I’m really happy for her. These are really great projects she has. She’s funny and I love her.”

In the Discovery of the Year category, it will be a take 2 for Mégan, who lost against Mona De last year. Does she believe more in her chances of winning this year? “When Mona is not in your paws, things usually feel better! I can’t wait to see. I think as long as I don’t pay the ticket to go there [au gala] and I like the kit I had, it’s going to be a great evening.”

Praise for Laurent Paquin

Sharing the lead in the nominations with Laurent Paquin, Mégan Brouillard has nothing but praise for him. She has already opened for her show. “His show is so good. I hope this will allow us to collectively understand that Laurent Paquin is still at the top of his game. […] He is funny and brilliant. What he says is topical. It’s for everyone.”

Approaching 50,000 tickets sold for QuackgrassMégan Brouillard will continue her tour this year. “I’m really having more fun than I thought. I was afraid I would get tired of repeating the same things, but no. Plus, the people are so nice. It’s very diverse in my rooms and that touches me a lot.”
