Le Marais, a neighborhood that has completely changed
During an interview with La Tribune du Dimanche, the famous DJ Bob Sinclar spoke about his childhood in the Marais. In the 70s, this Parisian neighborhood didn’t look at all to what it is today. “Mom raised my sister and me alone in the Marais. No one wanted to live there because there were the Halles de Paris which were unsanitary,” he explains. And in fact, this neighborhood was at the time infested with rats and was not exactly known for its hygiene.
Since then, the Marais has experienced a real transformation since it has become quite a chic and bohemian place. It attracts not only tourists, but also artists. Bob Sinclar’s attachment to this neighborhood is not new, and even before his change, he already appreciated it, quite simply. because he lived there as a child.
