A sculptor of light and passionate about cinema, the artist immerses us in his unusual creations, to be discovered for free at the galerie Minskyfrom January 24 to March 22, 2025.

The exhibition Notre-Dame of Paris allows us to admire a twenty paintings in three dimensions, more than a meter high. These backlit boxes let us see light decorationscomposed with film stock.

Patrick Rimoux recreates the decorations of the cathedral, the large vaults, the rose windows… To do this, he summons many other artists, including Victor Hugo. For these light paintings, Patrick Rimoux chose to work with films which tell the story of the novel Notre-Dame of Paris. In these images, we can therefore see in transparency the famous people linked to the monument, such as the Hunchback of Notre Dame. The French artist also used scenes from films set in the cathedral.

Visitors discover the cathedral differently, through luminous works steeped in history. These fragments of films, linked to the creations of Patrick Rimoux, give birth to new stories, which can be deciphered in each painting exhibited.

The play of light, the artist’s specialty, gives a new dimension to these architectural elements. The historic building becomes almost unreal, the play of color and perspective gives the impression of entering a parallel world.

Don’t miss this free exhibition and fascinating, to be discovered at the Minsky gallery this winter.
