90 people participated, Friday evening, in the auditorium of L’Apostrophe, in the conference by Arlette Boué, retired professor of French and Latin and member of the Archaeological Society of Eure-et-Loir (Sael).
The teacher spoke of the trajectory of Princess Berthe (around 1013-1085), a character who marked her time. The granddaughter of Queen Berthe, daughter of the Count of Blois and Chartres, Eudes II, and Ermengarde d’Auvergne, notably founded the Notre-Dame de Chartres almshouse, future Hôtel-Dieu.
The speaker developed her links with Chartres. In homage to her son, Duke of Brittany, she offered a beautiful ciborium to Chartres Cathedral. A widow, she became closer to her brother, Thibaud III, Count of Blois, Chartres and Châteaudun. It was at this time that she founded or restored, in 1070, the Aumône Notre-Dame de Chartres. »
