During the greeting ceremony, Saturday January 11, Michel Chariau, the mayor of Samois-sur-Seine (Seine-et-Marne), presented the main orientations for 2025. These projects aim to respond to the challenges of mobility, security and quality of life, with particular attention paid to traffic and the development of the banks of the Seine.

Developments on the banks of the Seine

“A necessity given their attendance throughout the year,” he insists. Faced with this influx of visitors and increasing traffic, the municipality wishes to adopt concrete measures to streamline travel while improving the security of the premises.

For the banks of the Seine, targeted initiatives are planned with the installation of chicanes. The mayor mentions in particular the need to regulate traffic flow. “The speed will be limited to 20 km/h on the platforms,” he warns. We will put in place devices such as raised platforms, aimed at reducing vehicle speed while strengthening cohabitation between users. »

A system which, according to him, will promote access to soft mobility and create shared networks between motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. The creation of safe routes for cyclists and walkers is also on the agenda.

“These developments should be finalized before summer, in order to welcome in the best conditions the many visitors expected during the summer,” adds the mayor. The mayor also insisted on the problems linked to traffic in the heart of the village.

…and in the heart of the village

“We have introduced a speed limit of 30 km/h across the entire local network, so that different types of travel can coexist,” he said. This measure aims to improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists while reducing noise pollution.

In the coming months, additional devices will be installed to reinforce these initiatives: speed bumps and other arrangements aimed at channeling vehicle flows will be deployed. “We want a peaceful village, where everyone can move around in complete safety,” he insists.

These measures are part of a broader strategy to improve quality of life. The mayor also mentioned projects to beautify public spaces and an energy renovation program for municipal buildings. With these initiatives, the municipality intends to strengthen the attractiveness of the municipality, while preserving its living environment.
