Gérard: I am 59 years old, I have lived in Ramillies for around fifteen years, I take care of the management of my assets and I am looking for love. I like sports and cooking, two things that are linked, and I try to cook according to the activities I do.
Are you a fan of reality TV?
Bastian: I don’t really have time to watch it. I’ve seen a few already but it’s not my favorite program.
Gérard: Yes, like everyone else. We’re fully into it at the moment.

Where did you get the idea to sign up for the show?
Bastian: Having been single for a long time, my sister suggested to me during a walk that I sign up for the show in order to find the person who suited me best. At first, I laughed about it, but she insisted so much that I completed the form, never thinking I would be selected. It was a big shock when I learned of my selection and I admit that afterwards, I ate episodes from previous seasons in order to know what to expect, also knowing that my last relationship was complicated. She upset me and since then I have had trouble trusting anyone again.
Gérard: I’ve been single for two years, I’m not really into it anymore and as I had fairly specific requests, I said to myself why not leave it to the experts. I already followed the show before, but a lot more since I found out I’m taking part in it.
Getting married to someone you don’t know is surprising. Didn’t the concept of the show scare you?
-Bastian: It’s surprising, but afterward, the approach is based on scientific data taken beforehand. I said to myself why not, also knowing that I am an introvert and that I have difficulty reaching out to people. But I trusted the experts.
Gérard: It’s a step into the unknown, but there is a reason behind it: the marriage and the show itself respond to a request.
The first episode was only broadcast this Sunday, a few months after your registration was validated. Was it easy to keep the secret?
Bastian: The people who mean the most to me know this. Others will find out by watching the show.
Gérard: I had no choice but to tell my daughters and two or three friends who were in the know. They are happy for me and say it’s brave of me. But for others, it’s hard not to talk about it because there are things we can’t control, words that escape us. It’s also a weird feeling because sometimes you have to lie to people very close to you, it’s not easy.
Do you have anything special planned for Sunday evening?
Bastian: Non
Gerard: Yes. We will all be together, with the people in the know.
