If France Télévisions or LCP-Public Senate were delighted with the new numbering of DTT announced this Monday January 13, 2025 by Arcom, it is not time for celebration for the RMC BFM group. Arcom has in fact decided to move BFMTV, the continuous news channel and figurehead of the group, from channel 15 to channel 13, to create the block of news channels requested by the TF1 and France Télévisions groups. In the same order as today, BFMTV, “in the lead”, CNews, LCI and Franceinfo will be visible from channel 13 to channel 16. Objective, according to Arcom: “offer simplified and fluid access to a pluralistic offer of information” to viewers.
“A decision contrary to the public interest”
But for the group, led by Nicolas de Tavernost, the audiovisual regulator “takes a decision contrary to the interest of the public, the vast majority of whom want the minimum change in their habits linked to numbering“. In a vitriolic press release sent to the editorial staff this Monday evening, RMC BFM believes that “this reconfiguration disadvantages the RMC BFM group which in 2005 bet on DTT with BFMTV“. The channels RMC Story and RMC Découverte did not benefit from this change in numbering and remain in their places, respectively on channel 23 and 24. A status quo while they “have demonstrated their value.says the group.

Above all, RMC BFM calls into question the allocation of channels allocated to incoming channels. CMI TV is indeed arriving on channel 18, and Ouest-France TV will be broadcast from September 2025 on channel 19. That is to say before RMC Story and RMC Découverte. “The RMC BFM group is surprised by the change in position of Arcom, whose case law has until now allocated the latest available numbers to the latest entrants“, he wrote. He concluded his press release by affirming to examine “currently the possible avenues of appeal on these decisions“.
