DIn a press release, Karim Ben Cheikh claims to have taken note “with dismay” of the attribution of the presidency of the France-Morocco group to the National Rally.
The press release specifies that Karim Ben Cheikh will not participate in the activities of the friendship group as long as it is chaired by a member of the extreme right: “On principle, due to the xenophobic ideas defended by this party that I have always fought, out of respect for Moroccans in France and their families, I do not intend to sit in a group chaired by the extreme right”, he says.
Despite his withdrawal from the group, Ben Cheikh affirms that he will continue to be committed to strengthening relations between France and Morocco, thanking his colleagues for their collaboration since 2022. “I will continue to carry the voice of the French established in Morocco and to maintain the deep ties that connect me to this country which remains dear to my heart and to my mandate.”, he concludes.
