“Good music, a good atmosphere, it’s a good cover, this touloulou expresses himself. Nana is a legendary scene so thank you to everyone who allowed Patrons to return there!”
Carnival 2025 was launched in Guyana yesterday with the arrival of King Vaval. Saturday January 11, around 10 p.m., the famous Nana dance hall reopened its doors with the great return of the Patrons to this legendary scene in Cayenne.
“Nana is the temple, it’s the Olympia of Guyana, compares this carnival regular. I came to see this beautiful event because the Patrons and Nana are a beautiful communion.”
I took my first steps in carnival dances with Nana and the Patrons, today it’s a wonderful nostalgia.
“A page of the History of our heritage is to be added to the History of Guyana with this reopening of Nana”, adds Daisy, dancer.
The Patrons return to the Rising Sun, to Nana’s house, thirty years after leaving it. Yesterday evening, after an official ceremony, they replayed their best pieces in the presence of many Touloulous, King Vaval and the Queen, but also elected officials.
On stage, Renato Decater, singer of the Mécènes orchestra, “see the craze behind it”.
We do everything to welcome the public, there is positive energy because it has been more than 30 years since the Patrons left Nana, so it’s an event!

An event also inaugurated by the mayor of Cayenne. “We are happy and proud of this return of Patrons to Nana, proud that this heritage is taking root again in the capital city”comments Sandra Trochimara. She also wants to reassure the public: the village is coming soon.
Last night, some were disappointed not to find it, but it is planned for next weekend, adds the mayor. “I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy the carnival atmosphere,” adds a spectator who came with her family and even the Touloulous costumes.
