With a carnival atmosphere, Brok’Vaval is taking place this Friday, January 10. This market has been set up on Boulevard Mandela and will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight, including night time! An unmissable event for anyone who wants to make purchases at low prices.
It is a new formula for the carnival market that the organizers are proposing. We change days, Friday instead of Saturday and in the evening to allow everyone to come quietly after work.
This small commercial village has three stands reserved for restaurateurs and twenty stands for exhibitors. : « We had many requests and we had to make a selection explains Ernesto Labrador responsible for the direction of cultural and artistic development in the city of Cayenne, we chose Friday evening because we did not want there to be any competition in the different events. Vaval arrives in Montjoly the next day for example. Everyone can thus attend the events without having to make a choice. »
Le Brok’ Vaval which was created in 2015 is in its seventh edition. The Covid health crisis marked a break in the performance of this market. « We must remember, explains Ernesto Labrador, that the idea was to have a flea market so that people could change their carnival outfits such as touloulou dresses, tololo costumes, accessories, etc. This gives the opportunity to carnival-goers those who attend universities or even street groups to sell off their stocks. All this goes in the direction of sustainable development, we can buy back, rehabilitate and give another life to these effects. This allows those who don’t have a big budget to make interesting purchases. »
This market is also a great opportunity to promote the carnival. : “Among the associations present, the Carnival Office which is carrying out the project of having the character of the touloulou registered with Unesco. For us, this market is the opening of the carnival in Cayenne. »
